During this time in my life, I was living in the extremes; avoiding carbs, overexercising, doing endless amounts of cardio, and trying any of the latest diets trends I could find. I was the leanest I've ever been, but also the most miserable; I had low self-esteem, and struggled immensely with body image issues. I was exhausted living my life this way.

My passion for health and fitness has always been a part of my life. I grew up playing various sports, and was a competitive dancer from elementary school all the way through university.
In my early 20’s, I began my bodybuilding journey and started competing in physique competitions. At my first competition, the Toronto OPA Show, I received second place, qualifying for the Ontario Provincials. As exciting as this way, I was dealing with a lot of issues behind closed doors.

I switched gears and got into distance running and triathlons, hoping that finding a new fitness outlet would 'solve' my problems. I completed eight half-marathons and two triathlons over the next two years. These athletic challenges taught me new skills, and challenged my body in different ways, however, my battle with my disordered eating and overexercising only continued.
The next turning point in my fitness journey was when I found the sport of Crossfit; I was instantly hooked. I loved the focus on strength, functional style training and gymnastics. I felt empowered every time I lifted up a barbell; I began to view my body with a renewed perspective of appreciation for what it could do, not what it looked like. I was starting to see that living in a state of food deprivation, adrenal fatigue, and overexercising was only taking me further away from what I wanted; balance.

I decided I wanted to further my education in nutrition and health in hopes of overcoming these issues and completed my Women's Health Coaching Specialist Certification. I was able to deepen my understanding of the ins and outs of wellness optimization, female hormones, nutrition, stress, and body composition. It's here I learned I could work towards and maintain a strong and healthy physique without the deprivation and extremes.

From years of disordered eating, to finally understanding and adopting science-based nutrition and training principles, my life transformed; I'd arrived at a place of freedom. I was no longer afraid to go out for dinner, eat dessert, or to take a few days off from training. I also had more energy for my training, was sleeping better, and finally regulated my menstrual cycles.

Learning so much from my experiences, I knew I wanted to dedicate my coaching career to supporting women in finding their own version of optimal health and balance and providing them the tools to begin their own pursuit of health and happiness.
